Read aloud meets 8th Grade CO State RW Standard 2.1.b.i. & 2.3.b.ii.; read aloud is followed by a discussion of the figurative language, poetic devices, and vocabulary the author used and what effect they have on the reader.

At Home Reading Evaluated each Monday/Tuesday! Every middle school student should be reading at least 20-30 minutes every evening!

      Most likely, there are papers that you would need in the absentee folder at school. You can check the website though and see if there is anything you have access to that will help you keep up.

    My book talk is on the book Three Days. I recommend this book to people who like mysterys and excitement. The highest point of interest in this book is where Sophie’s dad ( Sophie is the main character) passes out driving home from dinner. Sophie tries to get someones attention to get help, but it’s to dark. Then, these two guys stop and pick her up, and Sophie thinks that the two men are going to take her to the police but really they are taking her to their house where they will keep her there for Three Days. The main character, Sophie, is a very brave and encouraging girl! She puts up with whatever the men want her to do or whatever they make her do, and she stays strong through those Three Days. Finally, she get back home to her mom.

    1. You need to make sure you have your rough draft of your Who Am I Poem done, so you can get it peer edited when you return. Lit. letters are due today for your group as well. Hope you start feeling better! –Mrs. T

        Is the book cover llike a 3 Ring Bnder? Then it only needs My Name, “Who am I” , and then some pictures…

        And for the “Who am I” poem, Can you please tell me what the details are on that? the length, the topic, ect. Thank you!

        You are going to have a 3 ring binder (1″ or 1 1/2″) to compile your Who Am I Book. Some binders have a front that you can slip a page in that would enable you to create a book cover (with Who Am I? your name & maybe some pics) on a page that you would slip in. Other people have used puffy paints to decorate the cover of their binders. It is up to you. If you look on the 8th grade page, I have put links for pdf files of the rubric & Who Am I Poem information. When I get home I will try to upload the pdf for the Coat of Arms as well. Mr. Schnickel will upload autobiography information. We will do whatever we can to help catch you up, so don’t stress out! Let me know if you need any more guidance.
