6th Grade R/W Workshop

Read aloud meets 6th Grade CO State RW Standard 2.1.b.i; read aloud is followed by a discussion of the figurative language, poetic devices, and vocabulary the author used and what effect they have on the reader.

6th grade vocabulary lessons focus on roots, prefixes, and suffixes and meet 6th Grade CO State RW Standard 2.3.

6th grade spelling is individualized.  Students choose words from their personal spelling word study from their own writing and from a list of MS spelling demons (words typically misspelled by middle school students) CO Standard 3.3.b.ii.
